Dental Implants & New Teeth the Same Day? Inconceivable!

Posted on August 27th, 2022

Des Moines dentist, Dr. Chad Johnson at Veranda Dentistry explains how All-on-4® can improve your life with same-day implant-supported dental restorations. Many people face tooth loss and are unsure of their options. Tooth loss is difficult socially as well as physically. When you lose a tooth, you also lose the bone that supported the tooth—it simply stops growing since it’s no longer needed. After that bone disappears, your jawbone will continue to shrink away as well, which spells trouble for the rest of your mouth and overall facial structure.

Tooth loss affects appearance, speaking, and daily functioning—but the All-on-4® solutions can restore your healthy smile in just one day! These treatments continue to improve over time. As of this writing, hundreds of thousands of patients have received All-on-4 teeth replacements. If you’re facing tooth loss, you’re not alone—many others have gone before you and achieved success with this procedure.

With your Des Moines team of dental professionals on your side, you can have the smile of your dreams in just one day. Veranda Dentistry explains more about the All-on-4 solution and how to know if it’s right for you below.

Am I a candidate?

All-on-4 is a system of dental implants that can replace all of your teeth. It’s especially good for anyone who is missing most or all of their natural teeth. This is because All-on-4 implants can replace an entire arch (all of your upper or lower teeth) all at once.

If you’re beginning to lose or have already lost many of your natural teeth, you can talk with your Des Moines dentist about removing the remaining teeth, since they might fail soon anyway.

There are many options for replacing your teeth, so it’s important you consult with your dentist to decide which system is best for you. You should not get All-on-4 implants if your jawbone is severely weakened or deteriorating.

How does it work?

All dental implants replace your natural tooth with a lifelike crown held into place by a metal screw. The crown (replacement tooth) will look and function just like a natural tooth. The implant itself is invisible and functions just like a natural tooth root, preventing jawbone deterioration and stimulating new bone growth.

Implants will ideally work seamlessly within the whole system of your mouth: teeth, jaw, cheeks, and tongue. They even help stabilize your jaw because the screw and crown are held so securely in place.

Bridges are another option for replacing teeth, but they do require support from adjoining teeth – so implants may be a better option by causing less stress on your mouth.

All-on-4 gives you a full arch (upper or lower set of teeth) using only four implants to lock them in place. The four implants include two vertical implants in the front and two angled implants near the back that go right into your jaw. The angle at which the back implants are placed allows for the maximum number of teeth with the minimum number of implants, saving patients time and money.

With conventional dental implants, a healing period of about six months is required for proper integration and healing – that’s six months with a missing tooth or teeth. With All-on-4, the implants and the arch stabilize each other when placed at the same time so you can get a fully secured smile one visit. It’s recommended you eat a very soft diet for 6-8 weeks after the treatment to allow proper healing.

Teeth in a Day artificial teeth look and function exactly like a set of healthy, natural teeth, and you care for them the same way, too. Don’t forget to brush, floss, and see your Des Moines dentist regularly!

What are the benefits of All-on-4 and Teeth in a Day?

All-on-4 is an excellent option for someone with major tooth loss. The benefits include:

  • Receive the maximum number of teeth for the minimum number of implants.
  • This offers a full solution with less stress on your jawbone.
  • Permanently secured for freedom from removable dentures.
  • The treatment takes only one day because the angled implants allow for natural healing and settling even with the whole set in place.
  • It’s cost-efficient to spend only one day at the dentist and get only four implants.
  • No bone grafts are usually needed.
  • It’s a long-term solution proven to last up to 10 years.
